Envy

Quote for the day:

“I call it… bloop bloop.”

- Punchline ng “joke” ni Nathan. :-| Oh man, sabaw forever.

I saw a ghost from my past awhile ago. She was a girl from my high school in Baguio, one year below. I was coming out of Trinoma, and she was on her way in.

Let me tell you, this girl had grown up. The last time I saw her she was just a jeans, t-shirt, ponytail kind of girl. Yes, she was always one of the pretty ones, but not the kind that would make you stop at your tracks and just… watch.

Awhile ago she was wearing a green minidress – the skirt short enough to make you take a second look, but not so short that she looked like a skank. Her hair was down, with some strands tucked behind her ear. I’m not going to go into further detail, lest you people mistake me for some kind of lesbian, but anyway… Oh me, oh my, was she beautiful [an adjective that is never used nowadays - I'm bringing it back, baby].

Anyway, so there I was, in my denim cut-offs and white t-shirt, my hair – a disaster, as always. And there she was, in her green minidress and perfect – probably blow-dried – hair.

My thought processes went a little something like this: Why can’t I be like that?

Answering my own question:

  • I don’t like skirts.
  • I don’t like attracting too much attention. Minidress? Hello?
  • Blow-drying? Will I take that much effort just to get perfect hair? I don’t think so.
  • It’s not what’s on the outside that counts. Inner beauty is all that matters.
  • I can never have fun looking like a real girl. Real girls have to worry about their nails/hair/shoes/perfect color-coordinated outfits/etc. I only have to worry about… not getting my socks wet.

Pffft. Who am I kidding? I am so jealous. Dang it, why oh why can’t I be like that?

[Read: This is your cue to go, "Oh you silly girl, maganda ka naman eh!" Fish fish fish.]

Basically, you don’t like dressing up in a feminine way? (Okaaay, did I just incur somebody’s wrath here?)

Also, I use the word “beautiful” still! The word’s not dead! :P

  9. 9 Diane August 2, 2007 at 10:02 am

Come on, don’t get jealous. You’re pretty din :) The thing is, your beauty is different from that girl’s beauty. You don’t have to go too far just to be beautiful. Effortless beauty. :) Naks, parang ako lang. Nyak! Joke :)

Buhay na uli ako. =) Take Care DQ :P

tama si Diane.. effortless beauty.. and the inside counts alright. i see girls like that as well.. and imagining me being them.. but then spending too much time on looks was never my forte. hehe.
