Huwaw Pare, Profound.

[BGmusic: Dead Trees and Traffic Islands by The Manic Street Preachers]

Jigs tagged me in the hopes of unleashing my inner philosopher, and how could I resist after he called me a “cutie”? [Hahaha kidding.] Surprise, surprise, my inner philosopher doesn’t have much to say.

What is the meaning of life?
Love. It’s all you need. [Yeah, I just made that up right there - my originality is amazing.] :-) Which brings me to today’s quote:

Quote for the day:

If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere.

– 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 [The Message]

If a tree falls in a forest with no one to hear, does it make a sound?
The falling tree makes vibrations in the air, with or without someone to hear it. If you call the vibrations in the air “sound”, then yes, it obviously did make a sound. [This all depends on the your dictionary though - some definitions make the actual hearing part necessary to make sound exist.]

What is the fundamental flaw in human nature? Pride – or greed?
I’d say pride; greed is a byproduct of pride. Ata.

Would you kill one person to save a thousand? However, that one person is the most important human being in your life. Would you still do it?
Hmm. Depends on how much society would benefit from the survival of the one person or the thousand. [Yes I'm a socialist all of a sudden. Haha.] If that one person is the most important human being in my life and if society would benefit more from the thousand’s survival… then… um… I’d only do it if the person agrees to it. Probably with my eyes closed.

Are men naturally polygamous?
No. Saying that men are naturally polygamous just gives the womanizers out there yet another lame excuse.

Are women naturally competitive with other women?
Yes. Just like men are naturally competetive with other men.

Is the human race essentially good?
No.

“If all the world’s a stage and we are merely players…” what game are we playing?
Patintero.

Have you been accused of being a genius?
Being a genius is nothing to be ashamed of. Ehem. :-|

In a society where everyone is “entitled to their opinion”, what place is there for Right and Wrong?
People’s opinions do not change truth. Just because someone thinks… say… Ashlee Simpson is a talented musician doesn’t make her so. [Down with post-modernism! Hooray!]

Descartes said “I think therefore I am”, how can one prove to themselves that another person exists beyond their imagination?
Ewan. But there’s always the poke test. *poke* *tickle* *poke* *prod* *tickle* It’s a lot of fuuun.

If it was never illegal, would you have killed someone by now?
You’re asking the girl who refuses to eat meat because she feels sorry for the animals. :-| What do you think?

Does everything in the world have an opposite? If no, give an example.
No. And anyone who can tell me what the opposite of earwax is gets 20 points, including tax.

How do you define personal honor?
Honor. That is personal.

How would you describe the color blue to a blind person?
The second movement [especially the oboe solo] from Dvorak’s New World Symphony.

How will you prove that genuine love exists?
You’ll never be able to prove it to someone else, only to yourself. To know that love exists, one must experience it. [Aaaand I sound like Confucius. Mabuhay.]

Will humankind annihilate itself eventually?
At this rate, most probably. But I’m probably not going to be there when it happens so hooray for me.

What is the greatest unsolved mystery on earth?
Why dandelions are called weeds when daisies are considered as flowers.

Given infinity, will all that is possible eventually happen?
By choosing to do something, you give up the possibility of doing all other things, and your actions close some doors and open some windows [yes let's fit all the cliches we know in here] that wouldn’t have been closed/opened otherwise. See the principle of the opportunity cost [woohoo econ!].

Is it better to be uncertain about something forever, or know the truth and be very hurt through all your life?
Sometimes it’s better to be unaware. Read this poem. Good stuff.

Is it bad to call in to work because you are sick of it?
Quit.

If you saw a yellow ball but everyone told you it was purple, who would you believe? If no, what would you do to prove your side?
I’d probably go crazy first, but if I was together enough to prove my side, I’d bring out my trusty box of Crayola and wave a yellow crayon in their face. Power to the crayon.

Is education the filling of a pail, or the lighting of a fire?
A little of both.

What would you be willing to do to survive?
Eat. Breathe. Kick ass every now and then. Etc.

Is a lie a lie, if everybody knows it is?
Yes. But these lies are very special kinds of lies, and the liars are very special people – (a) artists or (b) your run-of-the-mill politician. There’s this saying that says it all: artists use lies to tell the truth, politicians use lies to cover it. [EDIT: that sweeping generalization was not cool, I'll try to refrain from making any more.]

Imagine yourself experiencing a car accident. What happens and how does everything look like after the accident?
I’m the one in the backseat who was asleep the whole time, wakes up after the accident all: “huh?”, and walks away practically unhurt. Because that’s what I do. Booya.

Do you ever wonder if you’re already dead and this is just your life flashing before your eyes?
…Yes.

Should the conservative Christian husband of an atheist woman allow her to have an abortion if there’s a chance the kid might grow up and turn into a gay Mormon?
Abortion is murder. [If you don't agree with me... you're WRONG. Hahaha. Watch The Silent Scream.] And the God of the Bible loves homosexuals and Mormons and died for them. So [obviously] my answer is no.

That aside, I had a nice quiet Christmas in Baguio. Hope you guys enjoyed your Christmases as well. I’ll be in Batangas for the New Year… Woohoo!

EDIT: Because Jigs had a link to Khoops.com on his post, I had to click and I had to sign up and now… I dunno what I’m going to be doing with that. If you’re on Khoops do look for me. I go by Donya Quixote.

I remember eating at veggie place with you and we had this conversation… you told me you wanted to kill someone, haha.

I made some random comment about how you’d not kill animals but still be willing to kill someone.

    You said yes.
